Vintage Lingerie

Although it is hard to say the exact date, men and women's undergarments are traced back to ancient times.
From mosaics in Sicily, to Egyptian tombs, undergarments have been a part of our wardrobe for literally ages.

But when did they become fashionable? When did lingerie evolved into statements pieces that Madonna would wear on stage?

In the 18th Century women were constricted into corset and in the 1920s they were liberated by Chanel and Paul Poiret new fashion silhouettes.
As often happens with fashion, controversy makes it more popular.
Today corsets, stockings and night robes can be worn even over garments in everyday life.

  1. Hi Beatrice! Thank you so much for stopping by and visiting my blog Dusty Petals. I saw your name and jumped in excitement. I'm so disappointed I left Hong Kong before the party at your vintage shop. Thanks for thinking of me. I'm following you now! Look forward to sharing our blog posts.

Love your piece of writing on vintage lingerie.
